GiG's process of "Circular Community Lending " is where the Grant recipient makes a monthly voluntary donation back to GiG where the funds then become available to someone else in the community.  The lending scheme is built on Trust & Respect with a fundamental belief in people, giving the Grant recipient the Dignity of being a Giver.

GiG builds a mutual beneficial partnership, taking the initial risk, putting more power into peoples hands. The recipients feel comfortable, empowered and trusted and when the trust level is high, the recipient rewards by giving back.

GiG Grants are payments made to individuals or families in need, living close to or below the poverty line. It anchors them, brings stability, time to breathe, time to regain their energy and help them to grow and thrive.

The grant payment is made with an assumption of trust rather than risk. Radical trust is having a fundamental belief in people, culminating in radical results.

The grant payment is fully paid back to the charity through voluntary monthly contributions. The suggested monthly contributions are calculated by the amount of payment received divided by the overall monthly contribution period set.

Initially an Interest Free Grant application will only be considered when an individual/househols has been referred to us by an appropriate agency.

“If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest " -Exodus 22:25

Regrettably the world today operates in completely different realms than to God's when it comes to the lending and borrowing of money. God's word sets out clear and high standards of adherence on both lending and borrowing.

In the bible, debt is referred to as "slavery"  and when we loan money to someone, we increase that person's burden and make it easier for him to stumble.

But as Christians, we are urged to lend to those who are in need, to lend to the poor, extending God's grace without enforcing anything in return.

Therefore our motives of lending should be pure, seeking God's word and not financing the wants and desires of today's society.

The Bible is also very clear that when we make the important decision to borrow, we are obliged to pay back the whole debt.

How GiG Grants can reduce Poverty Premium, generate and increase disposable income.

Once we have successfully built a household budget plan with the individual /household and seen that it is balanced and sustainable, we can then look at ways of helping and to reducing their Poverty Premium.

This could be by means of an interest free grant up to a maximum amount of £2,000. This payment can be repaid by voluntary contributions over a maximum period of 24 months. GiG fully assesses the ability to contribute by voluntary donations to the charity and estimates the amount of savings to be made prior to offering this resource.

Here are a few examples in which a GiG Grant could help a situation.

  • Paying off existing high cost credit
  • Qualifying for the best insurance deals by paying for them in full rather than monthly installments
  • Purchasing essential electrical or household items
  • Avoiding high cost credit
  • Avoiding expensive high street rent-to-own companies inflicting huge & unfair annual interest rates
