Financial Inclusion - Access to Banking

For those who do not have access or do not qualify for a standard Bank or Building Society current account, we can arrange and set up, what we have called, a "SeaChange" account for you.

​We will be referring you to the UK's largest building Society and their account will significantly change the way that you manage your day to day home finances and help towards reducing your Poverty Premium. All that they require from you in order to set up an account is a basic ID, proof of name and address. 
Having a current account with direct debit payment ability, will enable you to access the most competitive fuel deals in the market. You will also have access to a high street branch, online/telephone banking, high street ATMs where you will be able to draw cash free of charge. Your wages, benefits and cheques can be paid directly into your account.

Concerns with having a bank account?

Rest assured, this account will help you not hinder you. But we understand that you may not have had the best of experiences with banks in the past and that you may find banking institutions very intimidating and judgemental.

If there is anything that you don't quite understand, we will explain it twice, ten times, a hundred times. We want this account to work for you and it will if you let it.

This account has been designed with no monthly or penalty fees and no expensive overdraft facilities. If you don't have the money in the account your bills will not get paid through the banking system.

We can help you by applying online with you or accompanying you to a local branch where the account can be set up with a member of their staff. 

They must verify your identity, when you open a new account. This is required in order to meet UK money laundering regulations. They will need to verify just your name and address from the past 3 years. This can normally be achieved electronically online and your account will then be set up instantly. If an electronic search was unsuccessful then paper ID's of your Name and address can be taken into a local branch.

If you have concerns about not having enough money in your account to pay your bills, text alerts are set up to remind you when your money is low. You are able to set those alerts to a specific figure in order to activate your reminders.

After looking closely at your financial circumstances and budget planner, we feel that you would benefit from an overdraft/buffer facility, we are able to include as part of your agreed interest free grant, £100 to be used as a buffer/overdraft
